The 1860 Log Cabin
The reason for restoring the cabin is that we know it was one of the first structures in Wayne County outside of the city of Wooster. John Hughes erected the cabin in 1816 after moving here from Pennsylvania. Terry and Laura Gilmor donated the cabin to the MCHS and our goal is reconstruct it in as authentic a manner as possible. No electricity, no plumbing. We would like to furnish the cabin with only the primitive items that the settlers may have had during that time. The desire of MCHS is for the cabin to be preserved and have a place of prominence and to be used and appreciated by school children and adults to learn about what life may have been like 200 years ago.

1816 Log Cabin - Full Day $100
- 50% deposit due at reservation, balance due day of the event
- Tent rental is available on request for an additional charge
- Limited handicap-accessible parking
- Valet parking is available at your expense
- Absolutely nothing is permitted on the walls due to rare artwork
- All decorations must be approved prior to the event
- No liquor sales, however you are permitted to supply your own
- The 1816 Log Cabin can accommodate no more than 20 people
- We regret to inform you that the Cabin is not handicapped accessible
- No water located in the Cabin

We kindly ask that you leave the rental space in a tidy condition upon conclusion of your event. Failure to do so will result in an additional cleaning fee of $50, charged to the card on file.
Furthermore, to protect the integrity of this historic structure and its contents, any damages incurred during your rental period will incur a restoration fee. The cost of restoration will be charged to the card on file based on the extent of the damage.
